Do you know the author?

We all know people who are very well versed in the Bible. Some people can memorize and quote entire books of the Bible. I have sometimes wondered why there are people who know the book so well, but don't seem to be practicing its teachings. It was said best when someone said, "you can know the book without knowing the author".

Our goal as professing Christians is to know Jesus Christ personally. We should have a daily relationship with Him. He stands at the door and knocks, all we have to do is let Him in.

In John Chapter 5, Jesus is questioned about His testimony. Here is His response,

39You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, 40yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

41"I do not accept praise from men, 42but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts

He goes on to say that we will recognize His disciples by their fruit. That means we are watching people, and people are watching us to see what kind of fruit we produce. The fruit here are the works that we produce. What are your motives today? Why do you do what you do? Don't aim to be a people pleaser, Aim to be a God pleaser.
